Blueberry Lime Tequila Slushie

Updated: Aug 30

On the hunt for ways to add more tequila to my life, I decided on concocting a frozen blueberry and lime drink. I wanted a sweet, refreshing, and guilt-free treat. After some fiddling around, I found exactly that in this simple slushie. I utilized ingredients that I often already have on hand, so that this could be made without special planning.

Did you know that 100% blue agave tequila is considered the healthiest liquor to consume? It is lower in sugar and in calories compared to others. Tequila is distilled from agave fruit, which carries some health benefits. It is said to have positive effects on heart health, contain probiotics that promote good digestion, and even to aid in weight loss. These all sound like pretty solid reasons to drink more tequila.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups frozen blueberries

  • ½ cup lime juice

  • ½ cup tequila

  • ¼ cup agave nectar

  • 1 cup ice

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender.

  2. Pour into glasses and garnish with a lime.

Recipe Notes:

  • This makes 2 drinks, yielding around 2.5 cups of boozy slushie. I sometimes drink half, and refrigerate the rest for later. It is a delicious treat even after all the ice melts.

  • Fresh lime juice is superior, but you can make this with bottled lime juice.

  • You may substitue the agave nectar for honey or simple syrup.

You have my approval to add more tequila to your life, so go ahead and treat yourself to a healthy blueberry-lime tequila slushie!
