One Skillet Cheesy Bacon Broccoli (Keto Friendly)

In an attempt to impress my husband with a steakhouse-quality home datenight meal, I made a cheesy broccoli side dish for the books. I came across a seasoning combination I had never tried before: red pepper flakes and garlic. It sounded like a good pairing, so I went with it because I desired something new and flavorful. The result was a dish so tasty, I made it again, and again, and again. Gone are the days of boring broccoli.




 

Ingredients:

  • 4 heaping cups broccoli (see note on using frozen)

  • 3/4 cup cooked bacon -divided (I use pre-cooked crumbles)

  • 2 Tbsp butter

  • 5 tsp minced garlic

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese -divided


Directions:

  1. Melt butter and add all seasonings to oven-safe skillet.

  2. Sautee broccoli in butter/seasoning mix for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.

  3. Add heavy cream and melt 1/2 cup mozarella cheese and 1/4 cup parmesan cheese to form sauce.

  4. Stir in 1/2 cup bacon crumbles.

  5. Top with additional 1/4 cup bacon and 1/4 cup parmesan cheese.

  6. Bake in oven for 20 minutes, or until broccoli is desired level of doneness.

  7. Carefully remove skillet from oven and portion out your flavor-loaded side dish.

 


Recipe Notes:

  • You can use frozen broccoli, just know you will need to add 5-10 minutes to the baking time.

  • To make a spicier dish, up the red pepper flakes to 1 tsp.

  • This recipe is keto friendly!

Normally, my kids won't eat broccoli. Two out of my three kids devour this recipe, which is a very good batting average. This is incredibly easy to make. (And even easier to clean up after with just one pan!) I highly encourage you to take your broccoli to the next level.
